Coach Hunter Chapman

Coach Hunter Chapman

Coach Hunter Chapman grew up just outside of Birmingham in Gardendale, Alabama. He has loved the game of soccer since he first hit the pitch with the Gardendale Soccer Club at age four. Hunter played Varsity soccer all four years of high school, as well as club soccer with Gardendale Soccer Club, then later Homewood Soccer Club. After high school, he went on to play club soccer for the University of Alabama Men’s Club Soccer Team from 2015-2018, where he was named captain both his Junior and Senior years.

Hunter began his coaching career while he was still studying and taking tests at ‘Bama. In 2017, he accepted a position as the Varsity Boys Assistant Coach at American Christian Academy (ACA) in Tuscaloosa. In 2018, as a college Senior majoring in Physical Education, he was promoted to Varsity Boys Head Coach, where in 2021 he led the ACA Boys Varsity Team to their first-ever Elite 8 appearance. He remained with the program until 2022. During his time at ACA, Coach Chapman also taught Physical Education and several different Bible classes, as well as helped start their JV Boys Soccer program.

While at the University of Alabama, Coach Chapman met a girl, who is a 2015 Huntsville High graduate, and fell in love. He married his wife, Maysie, in June of 2020. Maysie’s family is still in Huntsville, so when a position at Westminster Christian Academy presented itself, the Chapmans decided to relocate north. Maysie found a position as a CRNA at Huntsville Hospital, and they moved to Huntsville in the summer of 2022.

Coach Chapman taught PE and Competing World Views at Westminster Christian Academy beginning in 2022 and was named the Girls Varsity Head Soccer Coach for the 2023 season. While at Westminster, he led his teams to win three state championships in three years from 2023-2025. He also started a Girls JV program for the Wildcats.

Coach Chapman moved to Huntsville High School in 2025. He currently teaches Career Prep and joined the HHS Soccer Family as the Boys Varsity Head Coach for the 2026 season. He holds a USSF D license.

When he is not on the HHS pitch or in the classroom, Coach Chapman can still be found with a soccer ball on his foot playing in a Huntsville adult league. He also enjoys taking walks and hanging out with Maysie and their chocolate lab, June. (Fun sidenote, June was born the day the Chapmans got married.) The Chapman Family loves all University of Alabama sports. Roll Tide!

“We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Huntsville High School community and are all super excited to join the Panthers Soccer Family! Go Big Red!”
