Coach James Young and Coach Kodak are one in the same. For years, Coach James has been affectionately referred to as “Kodak” by many players ever since they found out about his college nickname. He was always taking pictures when he was out with his friends.

Coach James graduated from Huntsville High School in 1998, where he played soccer as a Panther. After high school, he walked onto the University of Alabama Huntsville soccer team and redshirted his freshman year.

After freshman year, he chose to focus on his education instead of the sport he loved. His passion for soccer never died, and in 2008, James returned to HHS to begin coaching. Coach James has been a JV Boys Head Coach and an Assistant Coach for both the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys programs.

When he’s not on the HHS pitch, Coach James can be found at JDM Solutions, where he works as a Systems Engineer or spending time with his family, many times near the youth soccer fields around Huntsville. Coach James believes that the values learned in the high school soccer environment can be utilized in transitioning students into adulthood. One of his goals for his players is to help guide them to become valued members of not only the team but also of society.
